It appears these days that if you ask you shall receive…a bailout that is (or a stimulus package for that matter). Seriously, I could rant on this topic for months on end if I was completely bored and had someone else to rely on to bring home the bacon for my family each month, but I don’t so I’ll have to keep this brief.
So the all knowing powers that be in DC decide to give away a trillion dollars of tax payer money that didn’t really have in order to boost the economy out of the dire circumstances that it faced a few months back. Now that they have seen how ineffective that was they decided on a new…well not exactly new, but a…well???? What should we call it? Okay, how about this…they decided to give themselves a do over and try it again! Never mind sound judgement, reason, or any kind of common sense, they simply went the with the tried and true “spending frenzy with money we don’t have but won’t have to worry about paying back because we’ll be out of office and dead when the piper comes a calling anyway”method. Sure, that’ll work wonders for our economy!
Maybe I ate a bad burger last night and now I’m seeing things a little funny, but didn’t all those big wigs that just demanded it was time for a “change” in Washington DC just sign off on another trillion dollars? Looks and sounds like the same old spendaholics from were I’m sitting. Oh, and it looks like this…$1,000,000,000,000…in case you were wondering how many zero’s are in a trillion dollars. That’s how much of our money was just given away! Heck, if they wanted to be generous with my money they could have at least asked my opinion, so even though it’s a little late here it is.
As of the 2006 US Census 300 million people in this country, give or take a few million. Take away those under the age of 18, illegal immigrants, convicted felons, bank CEO’s (and CFO’s, COO’s and anyone else with a big ”O” in their title for that matter) that needed a bailout or ever partook in sub-prime lending and/or hedge funds, cash advance and payday loan owners (I really don’t like those people…but that’s another post), and all politicians (they had there shot with the first trillion dollars they handed out). I’m guessing that lowers the population to about 200 million or so. If you take that one trillion dollars and divide it by 200 million people, each person would end up with around $5,000.00. Then again, $5,000 doesn’t go as far as it used to, so I say nobody gets it and it stays unprinted, because that money really doesn’t exist anyway. Then our child and grandchildren won’t be burdened with all the debt caused by people who have already died and rotted away in the ground. That’s my two cents at least!
